There is a huge grassroots movement that has begun within the music listening audiences for the music of all film and new media entertainment formats. Go to any music store selling CDs and just note the size of the film soundtrack and the new age/world music sections today.
In addition, the new age and world formats are often used by people as background music to create their own "soundtrack of their lives". People are buying this music and these soundtracks to films not because they love the films but because they love the music. This is a momentous distinction for the Composers Foundry Institute because we believe we'll be the first, or among the first, to acknowledge this growing market and address its needs. The connection between the new age, world, and film/new media music is this: they are the lineage holders of the classical concert music tradition of Western Civilization. In other words, Mozart is not dead; he lives in his children who write for film and other new media.
