Q. What is this RSS link used for?
A. RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication”, and is a special web publishing format designed for delivering news headlines and other web-based content directly to subscriber desktops. Customers who install an RSS reader (see sample list below) can utilize this website feature to receive automated updates on all announced Mesa Arts Center events.
Note: Without an installed RSS reader installed on your computer the contents of this link will show you the “raw” XML code in your browser. Using an RSS reader makes the text viewable in a user-friendly interface.
Q. How does RSS work?
A. RSS readers can aggregate news updates (called “feeds”) from websites that have elected to publish their news or other items in this specialized XML format. The RSS reader is software that you install and configured on your computer. The RSS reader then “polls” the news feeds that you have configured it to monitor, and displays any new items discovered in the user interface, in a news headline type format.
Q. Where can I get an RSS reader?
A. There are many RSS readers available. Some are free, others cost money. Some contain advertising banners, others are advertising “free”. Customers should carefully review the terms and conditions associated with RSS readers before installing and using them.
The following is a sample list of some of the RSS readers available to the public. References to any specific commercial product, process, or service by trade name, trademark, service mark, manufacturer, or otherwise does not constitute or imply endorsement, recommendation or favoring by the Mesa Arts Center or the City of Mesa. The list below is provided strictly as a starting reference for customers to explore possibilities, and does not constitute a complete list of all RSS products available. Customers assume all risks and liabilities associated with the installation use of any of these products. The City of Mesa reserves the right to change this list from time-to-time.
